First Violin
Adopted by Pam Swift, and Ian & Kathy Taphouse
Originally hailing from Preston, violinist Ruth McNamara joined the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in 2004. Before that, she freelanced with various orchestras around the country (such as the Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, Northern Ballet, Northern Sinfonia, and Manchester Camerata), having studied at Cambridge University, the Royal Northern College of Music (with Malcolm Layfield) and privately with Levon Chilingirian and Leland Chen.
Fun Fact:
Away from music, Ruth loves cooking, spending time with family and heading out on long walks on the fells.
