Favourite performance:
I really enjoyed Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle a few months back! What an amazing piece.
You performed a beautiful duet with soloist Sebastian Bohren (Duetti per due Violini, 24. Aldo by Luciano Berio) a couple of years ago. Could you tell us about the experience?
When Sebastian asked me to perform Luciano Berio’s ‘Aldo’ with him as an encore, I immediately said yes as it is one of my favourite pieces. It is an old Sicilian love song, and it always brings me to tears. It was wonderful to perform something so quiet and intimate in such a large space to such a warm audience. You could hear a pin drop!
Could you tell us about your music activities outside of Liverpool Philharmonic Hall?
My partner, Nick Bootiman, recently joined the Orchestra as our new Principal Viola. It’s really wonderful to get to work with him here but when we’re not in Liverpool you’ll find us in the Chilterns running our very own orchestra called Echor Music!
