Music Industry Careers Fest

12pm - 6pm 

Delivered in collaboration with LIMF Academy, with support from Culture Liverpool/SIF 

Aged 14-21? Interested in working in music but don’t know where to start? 
Come to the Music Industry Careers Fest at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall! 

Learn more about the wide array of opportunities in this field, meet leading industry professionals and kick start your musical career. Liverpool Philharmonic’s Careers Fest is packed with hands-on workshops, fascinating demonstrations and talks from industry experts, covering everything you’d want to know about working in the music industry.  

Whether you are interested in performing, composing, song writing, sound engineering, technical and production, music journalism, recording, management, music education or creative health, Careers Fest has something for you! 

Activities include:

  • Keynote Q&A with operatic bass-baritone Davone Tines, hosted by radio presenter Ellie Ajao

Panel discussions:

  • Music Journalism, Broadcasting and Podcasting with BBC Radio Merseyside's Jade Burns, podcasters Rebecca Toal and Hattie Butterworth (Things Musicians Don't Talk About), Brian O'Connor and Simon Barber (Sodajerker) and radio presenter Ellie Ajao
  • Artist Management with James Egelhofer and Elise Brown from Revere Arts, Singer and actress Megan Burns, Mike Murphy from Ditto Music and EMI North's Josh Daniel
  • Touring in the Music Industry with conductor Robin Wallington, Chief Executive of Spitalfields Music Sarah Gee, Bed & Breakfast Live Music’s Abby Meysenburg and Dr Simon Rowbottom clinical psychologist and lead singer, guitarist and songwriter of The Boo Radleys.          
  • Portfolio Careers in the Music Industry with Elise Brown from Revere Arts, UK Music’s Oliver Morris, Artist Mentor and Record Label Manager Grace Goodwin and Dr Michelle Phillips Head of Enterprise (Academic), Senior Lecturer in Music Psychology at Royal Northern College of Music

Workshops and Showcases:

  • AdLib Production and Tech Showcase 
  • Mentorship in the Music Industry Workshop with Grace Goodwin and Help Musicians
  • Music Teaching Workshop with In Harmony Liverpool
  • Record Engineering for Beginners with Liverpool Philharmonic Production Technician Ellen McGovern

This year will also include and a free Music Careers Marketplace, where attendees will have the opportunity to chat to representatives from leading music organisations and employers including LIPA, Ivors Academy, The Royal Northern College of Music, Help Musicians, Revere Arts, Ditto Music, UK Music, Access Creative College, ACC Liverpool, Awards for Young Musicians, Women in Live Music, University of Liverpool, Edge Hill University, Future Yard, JAMES, LMA Musicians Union, Resonate, SAE, Scrapyard Studios and WaterBear,

Careers Marketplace is open to the public for free (no tickets required). 

The kiosk will be open for snacks and drinks throughout the day.
