Liverpool Philharmonic Music Industry Careers Fest 2026

Our annual music industry careers day is back – bigger and better than ever in 2026!  

Want to kickstart your career in music? We’ve got everything you need.

Hear from Liverpool legends Guy Chambers (songwriter to stars including Robbie Williams, Tina Turner, Diana Ross and Mark Ronson) and Natasha Hamilton, who topped the charts with pop group Atomic Kitten and has since founded Morpho Records. 

The largest music careers event in the North West returns, with industry powerhouses ready to share their vast experience and how they got to where they are.

Top music organisations including the BBC, UK Music and Adlib will be on hand, sharing advice and helping you find a path to success in the music industry. There’ll be panel discussions, hands-on workshops and fascinating demonstrations, covering everything you’d want to know about working in music, including:

A Sound Start: Introductions to Careers in the Music Industry for Secondary School Students  
10am-1.30pm 

Specially curated for secondary school aged musicians and creatives (and their families), this morning session is the perfect starting point for discovering careers in music. We’ll bust myths about the industry and help you find your creative pathway forward.   

You’ll hear from keynote speaker Natasha Hamilton (formerly of Atomic Kitten and founder of Morpho Records) about getting started in the music industry and the endless career options on offer.

Advocating for careers in the music industry to families: Busting all the major myths about a career in the music industry.

More than the music: What are the business, technological and financial skills that all musicians, creators and creatives should start mastering early?

Sustainability in the music industry: What careers are available for those interested in creating a more sustainable music industry, and how can the next generation of music industry professionals help create better wellbeing for people in the industry, as well as a greener future for the world

Careers in music tech: What does the future of the industry look like in the face of AI and rapid technological advances?

Recommended age groups: Secondary school aged students, and their families/guardians

Higher Frequencies: Take your music industry journey to the next level  
2.30pm-6pm  

The afternoon session is perfect for those who are in higher education or training, early on in their music industry career, or perhaps considering a career change into the industry.  

The keynote Q&A will be with English songwriting powerhouse, and Liverpool local legend, Guy Chambers.

The following topics will be covered in this session:

Building your fanbase from your bedroom: your brand and online presence - harnessing the power of social media , and how artists get discovered in 2026.

Career changes from a different industry into the music industry: Talking about transferable skills and opportunities to change gears . Ideal for all areas of the industry, particularly events management, artist management, production and tech, performers, education.

Music broadcasting: What is it, how to get started, and how many artists juggle a portfolio career of broadcasting alongside other strands of their musical work.

Careers in composition and music creation:

  • What does a day in the life of a music creator look like, and what other skills are needed?
  • Music rights for creators: How to get your music heard, how to get paid and protect your rights.

Music Careers Marketplace

We’ll also be hosting our Music Careers Marketplace, where attendees will have the opportunity to chat to representatives from leading music organisations and employers. The Music Careers Marketplace will be specially tailored across the morning and afternoon sessions, but organisations and employers such as BBC, Future Yard, Glyndebourne Academy, JAMES, LIPA, Music Mark, Musician’s Union, PPL, RNCM, UK Music & Discover! Creative Careers and Young Sounds UK will be in attendance all day. The morning session will also feature organisations including City of Liverpool College, Edge Hill University, LMA, SAE & ICMP and The WRD, while the afternoon session will feature DITTO, MishMash Productions and The Creative Well, among others.
