Key Stage 2 and 3 – Schools Concerts

Music in My Bones: How Music Moves Us

We experience music throughout our whole body, from head to toe. A huge orchestral sound can make your seat vibrate. A beat can change your pulse. A melody can help you slow your breathing. A rhythm can make your feet want to move. And a single chord can make you feel excited, calm, joyful or afraid.

Join conductor Karen Ní Bhroin, presenter Jessie Grimes and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for this interactive schools concert exploring the fascinating connection between music and our bodies. We’ll discover how we make and hear sounds, how we feel about the beat, and how music can help us listen, breathe, move, feel and connect.

With pieces you know and love, exciting new works and plenty of interactive fun, join us as we explore the Orchestra, move with the music and ask the question: what does music do to our minds and bodies?

Scheme of Work

With your booking, you will receive a free scheme of work written specifically for Key Stage 1 that explores the concert theme and content. It contains five individual lessons that can be delivered in the classroom by the class teacher, alongside recordings of some of the repertoire and additional resources to support the lessons. It will also introduce the performers and provide relevant background information to prepare for your visit. We also encourage parents and families to access and deliver the series of music lessons provided.

The scheme of work allows learners to develop knowledge and skills linked to the National Curriculum and will enhance their experience at the concert. Lessons will be adaptable and differentiated to suit all abilities.

We will publish the scheme of work in the months prior to the concerts. It will be emailed to all current bookers at the time of publication.
