Born on the backstreets of Buenos Aires, tango is more than just a dance fuelled by passion. It’s a cry for justice, the song of a wounded heart, the voice of the people. In the hands of Astor Piazzolla it took on new meaning and conquered the world: sexy, stylish, moving with ease between the worlds of popular and classical music.
Tonight, in his 100th birthday year, we salute the king of ‘Nuevo tango’ with a world premiere orchestration of his Suite, Midsummer Night’s Dream and alongside his most beloved melodies.
