Performing here in Falstaff back in 2017, critics praised how Sir Bryn Terfel brought “warmth and nuance to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s brilliance” (The Guardian), and now he’s back to take on another iconic operatic role – Gianni Schicchi in Puccini’s opera of the same name. The opera depicts the life of a scheming yet ingenious peasant, who tries to cash in on an old man’s vulnerability by changing his will and securing a pay-off for his daughter’s wedding. The composer's only comic opera, it contains the well-known aria ‘O mio babbino caro’. This dramatised performance of the opera will also include intermezzos from operas by Puccini and Mascagni.

Gianni Schicchi will be performed in Italian with English surtitles. Please note, no discounts apply for this event.Meet the EOC singers and staff
