Part of In Harmony 10th Birthday Weekend

A celebration of youth music making across the North, with over 150 performers from Merseyside, Newcastle and Leeds.

The culmination of a Northern England three-city tour, the second half of this concert features an orchestra of young musicians from In Harmony programmes in Liverpool,  Leeds and Newcastle

The Wonder Files was commissioned by Sage Gateshead for the combined children’s symphony orchestras of In Harmony Newcastle Gateshead, In Harmony Opera North and In Harmony Liverpool as part of The Great Exhibition of the North 2018. It was performed at Sage Gateshead in June 2018, with a further performance at Leeds Town Hall in November 2018. This performance sees the addition of the final movement, thus making this performance the World Premiere. The Mermaid and the Moon features a solo specially written for BBC Young Musician and Liverpool Philharmonic Young Artist in Residence, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, for this performance.

The first half of this concert sees children from across Merseyside join together to celebrate the partnership between Liverpool Philharmonic and Resonate Music Hub, with Everton Junior Philharmonic performing alongside Resonate Youth Philharmonic. Young musicians aged 8 - 18 from across the region will perform a varied programme, including the Adagio from Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C featuring Sheku Kanneh-Mason.
