Schumann Adagio and Allegro
Falla Suite Populaire Espagnole
Britten Cello Sonata
Janáček Pohádka
Poulenc Cello Sonata
Jonathan Aasgaard cello
Ian Buckle piano
Songs, dances and secrets… Tonight, Jonathan Aasgaard, leader of the Orchestra’s cello section, joins pianist Ian Buckle in a recital that embraces both the smoky Spanish flavours of Manuel de Falla, and Benjamin Britten’s intensely personal tribute to a Russian great. And the cello’s magical, melodic tones allow these songs to simply soar.
