Raw, ravishing – a fairytale you’ll know, but with a haunting twist…

Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid, and the tales of Czech folklore, Dvořák’s opera Rusalka is sumptuous, shimmering and deliciously dark.

Deep in the forest, we meet Rusalka – a water-spirit who’s fallen for a handsome human prince. Desperate to be with him, she sacrifices everything, and only then realises the cost of true love. There’s romance, there’s fantasy – and there’s some of the most beautiful and captivating music Dvořák ever composed.

And delivering this concert performance, we’ve got a truly stellar cast, led by Chief Conductor – and opera enthusiast – Domingo Hindoyan and featuring superstar soprano Sonya Yoncheva and local opera legend Jennifer Johnston.

A rare, stripped-back performance, a spectacular cast, an enchanting story and music you’ll love – even if you’re new to opera, this one is unmissable.
