COFFEE CONCERT

Troika Klezmer Kabaret

Wallace Fields: bandleader, composer & piano
Owen Bryce: trumpet & cornet
Gero Pitanza: lead guitar
Matthew Heery: mandolin & rhythm guitar
David Luvin: double bass

There will be a post-concert Q&A with bandleader and composer Wallace Fields, in the Music Room 15 minutes after the concert ends. The Q&A will be free for all ticket holders and will be an opportunity to discuss the concert and music in greater detail.

After their sold-out debut performance in the Music Room in January 2018, Troika return with an eclectic programme that will take you on a breathtaking musical odyssey from the Dark Dens of Yiddish Odessa, to the sophisticated Café Society of 1930's Paris, via the wild Savage Steppes of Cossack Russia.

Troika are proud to present the first performance of Kol Nidrei, in their abridged arrangement for double bass of the powerful Cello Concerto by Max Bruch. The piece will be performed by arranger and soloist David Luvin.

The innovative and charismatic musicians present a programme ranging from their Yiddish and Russian repertoire, allied to the music of Django Reinhardt. They will also be presenting the debut performance of Wallace Fields' Odessa O5, a filmic composition relating to the abortive Russian Revolution of 1905; and David Luvin's abridged double bass arrangement of Max Bruch’s Kol Nidrei.
