Brahms wrote his German Requiem amid a period of great grief and turmoil in his life. Nevertheless, it’s a work of outstanding beauty. Featuring some of the most captivating music ever written, the piece travels through darkness and light, power and serenity, ultimately providing a message of hope and peace to the living. Tonight, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir, led by Director of Choirs and Singing Matthew Hamilton and accompanied by guest vocalists, and pianists Eve Taylor and Pete Durrant, allow this radiant masterpiece to truly soar.
"Most impressive, though, was the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir who made this demanding music sound easy and imbued it with real feeling.” Bachtrack, June 2023Please note, this concert will last approximately 1 hour 15 minutes with no interval.
