Hallelujah! Two centuries before The Beatles, Handel’s Messiah was already the biggest hit in the history of British music – and with tunes like Ev’ry Valley, For Unto Us A Child is Born and The Trumpet Shall Sound, it’s easy to hear why!

Messiah is less a classical masterpiece, more a national institution, so this annual performance is always a highlight of our calendar – and a magnificent showcase for our terrific Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir. Conductor Frank Markowitsch is renowned for his fresh approach to 18th-century music: there’s no more inspiring way to begin a new year.
