This event is part of the eighth annual LightNight Liverpool, the free one-night arts festival, which will take place on Friday 19 May 2017.
Visitors of all ages can join in with everything from large-scale light projections and live music to hands-on workshops, dancing, art and crafts, spoken word, street performance, theatre, late-opening exhibitions and walking tours.
This year’s festival will feature over 100 free events, all exploring the theme of ‘Time’; the past, present and future of the city, it’s people and the world we live in, as well as the influence of time on scientific discovery.
In the Music Room, enjoy performances by classical guitarist Craig Ogden, one of the UK’s most recorded guitarists. Then the Rubber Duck Orchestra takes the stage with its line up of 7 barmy, brassy, stomping, dancing musicians. They’ll make the floor bounce and walls sweat as they weave Balkan, Roma, Klezmer and Swing into an unabashed frenetic vibe. To finish, composer Jonathan Raisin will play “40 Times”. A specially-composed piece celebrating 40 years of Roger Hill's BBC Radio Merseyside’s alternative music show, “Pure Musical Sensations”.
In the Grand Foyer, our Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company Ensembles perform new works by our Rushworth Young Composers Joshua Quinlan and Yasmin Al-Zuhairi.
In the Hall, listen to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir under the direction of Chorusmaster Ian Tracey perform Bach, Vivadi, Billy Joel and more!
