Director Paul McGuigan
Starring Jamie Bell, Annette Bening, Julie Walters
Presented with support from Liverpool Film Office and Lionsgate UK
To celebrate the home entertainment release of this moving romantic drama, and following a sell-out screening in February, we are delighted to present another chance to see this film in all its glory on the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall Walturdaw screen.
Peter Turner, the subject of the film and author of the memoir on which it is based, will make a guest appearance at a post-screening Q&A. In an exciting first for film nights at Liverpool Philharmonic, ticket holders will have the opportunity to stay after the film as we welcome Peter to the stage to take questions about his experience.
With BAFTA nominated performances from stars Jamie Bell and Annette Bening, eccentric Hollywood legend Gloria Grahame (Bening) and struggling young actor Peter Turner (Bell) meet and embark on an intense romance in the late 1970s. Years later, in 1981, the onset of illness leads Grahame to reach out to her former flame. When she moves to Liverpool to stay with Turner and his family, the pair’s memories of their vibrant, whirlwind courtship come flooding back.
