Romane (actually Patrick Leguidecoq, born 1959 in Paris) is a French jazz guitarist in the tradition of Django Reinhardt. He is one of a group of contemporary guitarists who have made Gypsy Jazz known worldwide.
Although not a gypsy by birth, Romane benefited from interactions with many gypsy players from an early age. His father and grandfather also both played guitar and both were familiar with the music of Django Reinhardt. Romane started playing guitar at the age of twelve and as a teenager was friends with Gypsy guitarists like Mondine Garcia and his son Ninine. He later played with Babik Reinhardt (Django’s son), Chet Atkins and James Carter.
In 1995, he founded the ATLA music school in Paris, where guitar is taught in the Reinhardt tradition. Since 2000, he has produced Stochelo Rosenberg’s recording and also performs internationally with him as the Gypsy Guitar Masters.
Daniel John Martin is a unique and charismatic performer and one of the most talented and sought after violinists of his generation. Born in the UK, spending his childhood in Africa, Daniel then studied violin at Parisian conservatoires, where jazz became his first love.
Daniel’s singing, swinging violin has joined such world Gypsy guitar greats as Boulou Ferre, Angelo DeBarre and Romane amongst many others.
With support by the fantastic local Gypsy Jazz ensemble The Manouchetones.
