In a programme packed with sensational concerts and standout soloists, there’s plenty to look forward to this season.
Our Chief Conductor Domingo Hindoyan brings you some of classical music’s greatest symphonies, leading the Orchestra in Mahler’s Fifth, Brahms’ Fourth and Shostakovich’s Fifth, as well as continuing his celebration of Bruckner – this time taking on his Seventh Symphony.
This season we’re delighted to announce violinist Simone Lamsma as our Artist in Residence and the brilliant violinist Johan Dalene as our Young Artist in Residence. Acclaimed pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii returns to perform Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.3 and Sheku Kanneh-Mason takes on Weinberg’s Cello Concerto. Following an extraordinary performance last season, we welcome Víkingur Ólafsson back to Hope Street for Bach’s Goldberg Variations and star soprano Sonya Yoncheva performs Chausson’s Poème de l’amour et de la mer before joining us for a celebration of Puccini.
As is tradition, our festive favourites return, with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir uniting with the Orchestra for our Spirit of Christmas concerts and Handel’s Messiah. Throughout the season, the Choir will also take to the stage to perform Beethoven’s Mass in C, Fauré’s Requiem and Poulenc’s Gloria.
