As part of his Liverpool residency, Stephen Hough presents a specially-devised solo recital that explores every side of his artistic personality: thinker, communicator and supreme virtuoso. There’s Beethoven, of course: the great ‘Appassionata’ sonata. But there’s Debussy too – in Hough’s own words, “a romantic, an individual who expresses emotion. But he's looking to modernize”. Expect performances of unique insight from one of the few living musicians to have been awarded a MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant.

Stephen Hough’s steady ascent to the summit of his profession exhibits equally supreme mastery of his instrument and the deep humanity from which it has flowered.
