Clark Rundell conductor

The University of Liverpool and Ensemble 10/10, conducted by Clark Rundell, present works in which composers respond to the 'anxiety of influence'.

Each piece on the program is in some way linked to Schoenberg’s seminal work Pierrot Lunaire (pictured). Maxwell Davies mashes up Purcell, Reich reinvents Schoenberg's classic instrumentation, Harrison grapples with Giraud's poetic cycle that Schoenberg set, and Brittany Collie and Daniel Thorne, two post-graduate composers from the University of Liverpool, present pieces written for Ensemble 10/10 for the very first time.

There will also be a short round-table discussion between composers Collie, Thorne and Harrison, Ben Hackbarth (Head of Composition, University of Liverpool), and Clark Rundell about compositional influences.
