About Rosenkavalier

Music with power and purpose

Strauss’ suite from Der Rosenkavalier is a lush, comedic piece – an exploration of love and mortality that showcases the composer’s extraordinary command of instrumental colour through truly opulent orchestration. The doyenne of the viola world, Tabea Zimmermann, makes a long-awaited and welcome return to Liverpool to play William Walton’s Viola Concerto in the year of the composer’s 125th birthday. And in the middle of this feast of music, conductor Andris Poga delivers Strauss’ Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks – a vivid and playful portrayal of a tricksy folk hero.
