About Raghu Dixit Trio
The Raghu Dixit Trio brings together three long-time collaborators – Raghu Dixit (vocals, acoustic guitar), Sanjay Kumar (guitars, bouzouki) and Akshay Ganesh (violin) – in an intimate new presentation of Raghu Dixit’s music.
Known internationally for the exuberance and energy of The Raghu Dixit Project, Raghu now turns the volume down and the focus inwards. The Trio was conceived as a way to explore the songs more closely with a focus on journeying the audiences through the stories behind Raghu’s song-making and emotion that sit at their heart.
Drawing from nearly three decades of song-writing, the repertoire moves between reimagined favourites from Raghu’s earlier albums, new compositions and unreleased material. Stripped back to voice, guitars, bouzouki and violin, the arrangements leave space for the songs to breathe and for the musicians to respond to each other and the audiences in the moment.
It is a different side of Raghu Dixit: less about the spectacle, more about the songwriter; less about the full-band rush, more about the stories behind the songs.
Raghu Dixit has spent more than two decades taking his music from Mysuru to audiences around the world, performing in over 50 countries and on stages including Glastonbury, WOMAD, Southbank Centre and BBC’s Later… with Jools Holland. Sanjay Kumar and Akshay Ganesh are long-time members and collaborators of The Raghu Dixit Project.
The Trio brings that shared musical history into a more intimate setting – three musicians, one songbook, and a little more room to journey…
