Nosferatu: A Halloween Special with Live Piano (PG)

Nosferatu. The story may be familiar, but Murnau's classic 1922 silent film, is the original and the one from which all others have borrowed - but never surpassed.

As the great film critic Robert Ebert wrote: "And “Nosferatu” is more effective for being silent. It is commonplace to say that silent films are more “dreamlike,” but what does that mean? In “Nosferatu,” it means that the characters are confronted with alarming images and denied the freedom to talk them away. There is no repartee in nightmares."

The film that set the standard for horror cinema returns to the Music Room, and again with a special live piano performance for a Halloween evening.

After a sell-out performance here last year, the Philharmonic Music Room is delighted to welcome back Liverpool born composer and pianist Tony Judge who has performed his acclaimed original music for silent film for many years. Tonight he provides a live improvised piano performance to accompany the film.
