Interested in working in music but don’t know where to start? Come to the Music Industry Careers Fest at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall!

Learn more about the wide array of opportunities in this field, meet leading industry professionals and kick start your musical career. Liverpool Philharmonic’s Careers Fest is packed with hands-on workshops, fascinating demonstrations and talks from industry experts, covering everything you’d want to know about working in the music industry.

Whether you are interested in performing, composing, song writing, sound engineering, technical and production, music journalism, recording, management, music education or creative health, Careers Fest has something for you!

Don’t forget to visit the Music Careers Marketplace while you’re here, where you’ll have the opportunity to chat to representatives from leading music organisations and employers, higher education organisations, apprenticeship schemes, professional support organisations and more.

Activities include:

  • Keynote Q&A with Jonny Abraham (freelance musician, composer, arranger, from Public Service Broadcasting).

Panel Discussions:

  • The Value of the Live Events Industry with PLASA's Managing Director Peter Heath, AdLib's Managing Director Andy Dockherty, LJMU's Technical Support Manager Angie Garrod, Nadeen Kemp and Liverpool Philharmonic's Head of Production Emma Carey.
  • How to Build a Portfolio Career with Revere Arts' Director Elise Brown, Artist and Project Manager Megan Cleasby, DJ Smooth Fuego, and Manager and Promoter Mark Tremaine.
  • Behind the Artist - Careers in the Music Industry with Spotify's Head of Artist & Industry Partnerships Bryan Johnson, Another Rhythm/The Other Songs' Label Manager Joanna Phillips, JBMG's Founder Jacob Burns, and Co-Founder of Chorus, Tiger Hagino Reid.

Workshops and Showcases:

  • 'The Art of Presenting You' - A masterclass in networking, nailing your CV and putting your best self forward as you embark on your music industry career. Presented by Elise Brown, Revere Arts.
  • DECCA Classics Presents - Careers in Classical Music.
  • Social Media Planning in the Music Industry - Hosted by Howard Monk, Chief Executive Officer, The WRD.
  • Create a promo plan in 30 minutes - Hosted by Howard Monk, Chief Executive Officer, The WRD.
  • How to run a sound check - an interactive, young person only workshop hosted by Mathew Colfar (Production Technician, Liverpool Philharmonic).

This year will also include the Music Careers Marketplace, where attendees will have the opportunity to chat to representatives from leading music organisations and employers including Access Industry, City of Liverpool College, Ditto Music, Edge Hill University, FutureYard, JAMES, LIPA, Musician's Union, Resonate, RNCM, SAE & ICMP, Scrapyard Studios, UK Music, University of Liverpool, The WRD, LMA, Waterbear and Universal.
