Music Room

LightNight 2018

Liverpool Philharmonic, in association with Liverpool Acoustic, present a very special evening of music for LightNight 2018.

Liverpool Philharmonic’s Music Room (entrance on Sugnall Street) will play host to a specially curated lineup of talented local musicians. Performing on the evening will be stunning vocal duo Limerance, Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge winner Lydia Higham, popular singer-songwriter Chris Callander, new guitar duo King & Byrne, and electronic art-pop two piece St. Jude the Obscure.

St. Jude the Obscure are a new Electronic Art Pop 2-piece consisting of Adele Emmas and Christian Sandford, previously from bands Bird and Feral Love.

Limerance are a Liverpool based duo, playing original Americana music laden with close harmony, hearty lyrics and sweet melodies.

Lydia Higham is an acoustic singer songwriter and guitarist, with a folk-driven, atmospheric sound. Lydia won the Judges’ Award at the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2017.

Chris Callander is a singer-songwriter from Toxteth with a refreshing take on acoustic tuneage.

King & Byrne is an accomplished acoustic duo that perform a unique blend of Spanish/Flamenco style arrangements of well known tunes, their own original songs, together with a sprinkling of well chosen covers.

The evening runs from 5pm through to 10pm with every act performing a ten minute set each hour, so whatever time you pop into the Music Room during Light Night if you stay for 60 minutes you're guaranteed to catch them all!

In the spirit of this year's LightNight theme Transformation, the acts will be including a number of familiar songs they've transformed by placing their own musical stamp on them. There may also be the odd collaboration or two along the way.

LightNight is the city’s one night arts festival – a time for visitors of all ages to come along and see the city in a new light with everything from large-scale light projections and live music to workshops and spoken word, art, crafts and theatre, street performance, walking tours, dancing and late-opening exhibitions taking place right across the city centre.
