Phil Shotton & His Big Band play Benny Goodman

Following on from the exceedingly well received ‘forte tour’ and ‘festive tour’, the Phil Shotton Big Band return this year with a tribute to the music of the Swing Era clarinetist, Benny Goodman.

Phil takes to the stage as clarinet soloist with a full set of brand new bespoke arrangements by Ronnie Bottomley. The programme will embrace many of Benny’s greatest hits including; 'Sing Sing Sing', 'Avalon', 'Bugle Call Rag', 'King Porter Stomp', 'Let’s Dance', 'Don’t Be That Way' and 'Rhapsody In Blue', celebrating the work’s Centennial year!

The Phil Shotton Big Band is made up of some of the finest Northwest jazz musicians and soloists in their own right.

Multi award winner, drummer, arranger and big band leader Ronnie Bottomley has had a prolific and impressive career in music. He has collected many awards including the Jack Parnell Trophy for best big band drummer and the Jazz Yorkshire Lifetime Achievement Award. For 35 years, Ronnie was musical director of the Leeds College of Music Big Band.

You can expect exciting swing, memorable melodies and gentle ballads in this exciting show that celebrates the ‘King of Swing’.
