Handel’s Messiah was originally conceived and premiered as an Easter offering. First performed in April 1742 in Dublin during Lent, its focus is the life, passion, death and resurrection of Christ. Matthew Hamilton, our Director of Choirs and Singing, leads the Orchestra and Choir in this cornerstone of western choral music, a piece Handel himself said made him see ‘all of Heaven’ and ‘the great God Himself seated on His throne’.
This concert lasts approximately two and a half hours with one interval.
