Post-concert Question Time - starts 15 minutes after the concert ends (Music Room) with Domingo HindoyanFrench composers certainly know how to paint a picture. Paul Dukas sounds a fanfare – and draws back the curtain on a fairytale world of forbidden passions, told in music of silk and velvet. Ravel imagines the dawn breaking over a paradise landscape, and evokes a phantom ballroom: a whole civilisation waltzing deliriously on the brink. It’s a great, gorgeous extravaganza of a concert for our Chief Conductor Designate Domingo Hindoyan. Stravinsky, meanwhile, intended his Violin Concerto to be unplayable. But the fabulous Vilde Frang makes it sound easy!
