Carl Davis has been a conductor and close friend of the Orchestra, and loved by our audiences for more than 50 years. You are invited to join Carl on the day of his 80th birthday for a night of music that celebrates his life, his love of music and his work, introduced by presenter and friend Aled Jones.

With a career that spans decades and with scores and scores of music for film and TV it was impossible to choose the favourites, so we asked Carl! Starting with Bernstein’s buzzing Overture to Candide to Carl’s own music, including the exhausting and exhilarating Chariot Race from Ben Hur, to his television music for Pride and Prejudice and The World at War, this evening will be filled with the soundtrack of one of the UK’s most prolific and best-loved composers.
