You may be at a new school now, but that doesn’t mean the music has to stop.
In Harmony Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Hubs are free, creative spaces for young people who love music. Hubs are all about experimenting with sound, developing your skills and learning about the music industry. And of course, you'll have lots of fun and make new mates along the way.
With professional musicians and industry experts always around, you’ll create new music, build groups and ensembles, stage impressive performances, and become the best musician you can be.
Who can get involved?
If you’re aged 10-18, and live or go to school in Everton and Anfield, we’d love to see you. Simple as that.
Some Youth Hub members already play an instrument or make music. Some don’t have any experience of playing an instrument at all. All are totally welcome. Here are the orchestral instruments we can help you improve on or pick up:
But there’s plenty more! If you sing, play piano, guitar or bass guitar, make electronic music or DJ, or play any other instrument – this is the place for you too. Before you get started though, we’d love to chat to make sure we have everything you’ll need.
But remember, you don’t need any experience at all – just a willingness to try something new. Let us know what you’re interested in learning, and we’ll sort out the rest.
When do they take place? And where?
Tuesday at North Liverpool Academy (NLA) 4-6.30pm
Wednesday, Senior Hub at City of Liverpool College 4.30-7.30pm*
Thursday at Everton in the Community: Peoples Place (EiTC) 4-6.30pm
All Youth Hubs only take place during the school term.
*Senior Hub is for ages 14-18.
What's a session like?
Sessions happen weekly during the school term. You’ll have time to hang out with friends, do any practice or homework you need to do, and then we get to the music.
You’ll rehearse with a group, learning pop, rock, folk and classical with a professional musician. You’ll explore your own sound, learning about the nuts and bolts of writing music, and using your own voice and ideas to create original pieces. You’ll take part in a group lesson too, learning more about your instrument and developing your skills.
You don’t need to worry about bringing instruments, tech or music along if you don’t have them – we’ve got that covered. We’ll bring a team of professional musical and support staff too. And snacks? Of course we’ll bring snacks.
