Who We Are

Brilliant. Ambitious. Yours.
Liverpool Philharmonic is one of the UK’s leading music organisations and our city's largest music employer. We’re unique in the range of events we present and the way we do things because music – more than anything else – flows through Liverpool's DNA. We're proud that our home city and our people make us stand out, and it’s our mission to create powerful music experiences that bring everyone together – people of all ages from across this city and beyond.
Your Musicians
At our heart, we have the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra: the UK’s oldest symphony orchestra and a globally celebrated ensemble of exceptional musicians that frequently perform with stellar conductors and guest artists from around the world. Sitting alongside them there’s the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir and Liverpool Philharmonic’s 10:10 and together, every year, they create a season of performances that never fails to amaze. Music that has you on the edge of your seat, that brings tears to your eyes, that puts a smile on your face. Sounds that connect with you and move you.

Your Venues
The music we make every day pours out of our home, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall: a historic, Art Deco venue in the heart of the city. We welcome over 400,000 people through our doors every year, all enjoying a programme of bold, distinctive events that goes way beyond the Orchestra.
We bring artists of every genre from every corner of the globe to our stages – think pop, rock, folk and world music, inspiring talks and hilarious comedy. Multi-platinum, hall-of-fame musicians, big thinkers and creative visionaries.
And you'll find all this talent in our Music Room too – a grassroots venue that’s small but mighty. Acoustically unmatched, perfectly intimate and the first step in so many music careers, it’s beloved by our community and one of our city’s true treasures.
You’ll also find some of our events over at The Tung Auditorium. Home to Liverpool Philharmonic’s 10:10 and co-host to a range of other events all across our programme, it’s a state-of-the-art space with a truly special atmosphere.

Your Community
You know Liverpool’s a great music destination – England's only UNESCO City of Music in fact. So we’re proud to deliver music in Liverpool, for Liverpool and also by Liverpool. We get thousands of people across our city making music every year through inspiring schemes and projects, nurturing the next generation of talent.
In Harmony Liverpool Philharmonic brings free music education to more than 1,800 young people every week in Anfield and Everton. Our Music and Health programmes showcase the power of music to uplift, comfort and unite.
We support local music organisations and Liverpool-based artists of every genre, putting them centre stage, enabling them to hone their skills and build their dream career. And anyone who connects with us will be met with our warm, scouse welcome.

Your Future
We’re proud of the Phil’s rich history, and Liverpool’s musical heritage too, but we’re resolutely invested in music for future generations. We’ll always back new talent in whatever way we can. The Orchestra and Choir perform brand new works alongside old favourites. We programme emerging artists across our stages. We’ll continue to grow Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company, giving young musicians the support and opportunities they need to thrive. We’ll always nurture and work with the next generation of composers and orchestral players, sharing everything we know and the experience we have.
Rooted in Liverpool, open to the world, and always bringing you the best. Come along and join us.
