We know all too well that orchestral musicians can face significant challenges as they start out in their career.

The Emerging Musicians Fellowship is our way of doing something about that.

Every year, four musicians embark on a year-long placement with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. The Fellowship sees them become fully immersed in every aspect of professional orchestral life, benefitting from all the experience, talent and resource we have. It’s a priceless opportunity that opens doors to great success.

Matthew Brett was one of our Emerging Musicians in 2022/23 - and later became Section Leader Percussion in our Orchestra. He says: The Fellowship is truly an invaluable experience. The programme gave me all of the training and tools that a modern musician needs to forge a career in music.
Sameeta Gahir, the Orchestra's Principal Piccolo and the Fellowship's Lead Musician, says: I've been able to design the scheme I have always dreamed of being able to apply for when I was starting my professional career.
