The drama, the passion, the spirit of song, all united by a burning passion to communicate: the music of Verdi was simply made for Sir Bryn Terfel. Tonight, he joins Vasily Petrenko and the massed Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir in possibly the most dramatic piece even Verdi ever wrote: his Requiem. Its famous Dies Irae (Day of Wrath) sends shivers down the spine – but this great sacred masterpiece is staggeringly beautiful, too. With Sir Bryn heading a world-beating team of soloists, this should be a truly unforgettable way to launch his Liverpool residency.
