A hut on hen’s legs, an angry gnome, and all the bells of old Russia. Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition is a musical jewel-box overflowing with glowing colours and fantastic tales – and that’s just the climax of this evening’s Russian adventure. First comes the piece they call the “Everest of Piano Concertos”, a concerto so overwhelming that even Rachmaninov himself had to practise extra-hard before playing it! So we can’t wait to hear it performed by the phenomenal Boris Giltburg. Conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto will be with him every step of the way.
