Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra

Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is for young people aged 13-23 from in and around Liverpool.

Founded in 1951 as Merseyside Youth Orchestra, Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra enjoys a reputation for high quality performances and excellent opportunities for its players. The Orchestra performs throughout the year at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and across the region.

Perform exciting repertoire with inspirational conductor, Simon Emery
Attend sectional rehearsals led by players from Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra
Work with guest conductors, including Vasily Petrenko, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Chief Conductor, and Andrew Manze
Attend workshops and master classes with internationally renowned artists
Perform side-by-side with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra
Have the opportunity to perform a concerto as a soloist with the Youth Orchestra
Enjoy playing and learning with talented, like-minded young musicians

Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra alumni have gone on to study at top conservatoires, and play in the finest professional orchestras across the world, including Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Some members of Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra also play with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and attend leading music institutions, including RNCM and LIPA.

Feel what its like to play with amazingly talented young people from across the region. Experience playing in an open rehearsal with the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.

This open rehearsal is for you if you are grade 6 or above on an orchestral instrument, aged between 12 and 22, and want experience what its like to play in a high level symphony orchestra.

Applications for French Horns, Trumpets, Trombones and Percussionists are still open for the remainder of the 2017/18 season with auditions taking place in January 2018.

All other instrumentalists are welcome to fill in the application form and will be contacted about an audition for our 2018/19 season after the closing date.
