Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir
Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir is for young people aged 12-19 who want to enjoy singing with other talented young people from in and around Liverpool.

Youth Choir regularly performs with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir for concerts and special events, including premieres and collaborations, at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and across Liverpool.
Artistic Director for Youth Ensembles, Simon Emery, conducts the Youth Choir which rehearses on Monday evenings in term time in Central Liverpool. The Youth Choir learns and performs a wide variety of musical styles including classical, jazz, folk, and musical theatre.
Youth Choir members are part of Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company and can take part in a range of exciting performances, opportunities and events.
The Youth Choir has been recognised as one of the top choirs at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in previous years, and in July 2014 the Choir’s Director, Simon Emery, was awarded with the prize for the Most Inspiring Conductor. The Choir also performed at the London Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony and for our Patron HM The Queen.
Who is Youth Choir for?
Youth Choir is for young people aged 12-19 who want to enjoy singing with other talented young people from in and around Liverpool. Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir is open to all voice types: soprano, alto, treble (unchanged boys voices), tenor and bass.
How much does it cost?
Annual fees are £66 to be part of Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir which can be paid in a lump sum or in instalments across the year. Members will also require a concert dress for performances. Youth Choir members are expected to attend any residential or tours in the year (residentials are generally £150 per member). Means tested bursaries are available to cover fees, residentials and concert dress.
How do I apply?
Membership of Youth Choir is by audition. To apply for an audition to start in September 2018 please complete the form below by Monday 7 May. All applicants will receive details of an audition 3-4 weeks before the audition date.
What happens in an audition?
Auditions last approximately 10 minutes and will take place in central Liverpool.
In advance of an audition, you will be sent a song to learn. You should prepare this song to the best of your ability, and you will be asked to sing this song at the audition. You will also be asked to do a short piece of sight singing and there will be some aural and range tests. This will give the panel an idea of how well you can learn, how well you can listen and how your voice in developing.
The audition panel is made up of members of Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir team, including Simon Emery, Artistic Director for Youth Ensembles.

Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir is now accepting applications from singers in school years 7 to 13 to start in September 2018.
Applications for auditions should be complete by Monday 7 May 2018. Applications after that date may not be eligible for an audition to start in September (subject to availability).
