Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company is made up of the members of Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Ensembles and Rushworth Young Composers.

Around 200 young people, aged 12-23, from in and around Liverpool have the opportunity to develop their musical, creative and entrepreneurial skills and knowledge through a range of exciting activities, projects and events every year.

Developing young musician’s skills and knowledge through performance, composition, concert visits and other creative opportunities is at the heart of the Youth Company’s purpose. Through New Works composition projects and skills-based workshops, singers and instrumentalists work together in new chamber ensembles with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra tutors, sharing skills and experience across ages, instruments and genres.

Inspiring artists from across the globe have worked with Youth Company members, including master classes with Christian Lindberg (trombonist, composer and conductor), Julian Rachlin (violinist) and Andrew Manze (conductor). This opportunity to work with celebrated artists is invaluable to our young people progress and inspires them to achieve more.

Providing opportunities to develop skills that improve young people’s employability in creative and non-creative careers through Industry Days, Arts Award and work experience empowers and informs Youth Company members to make the most of their musical experience and passion in their future.

Youth Company supports physical and mental wellbeing for all young musicians, including Alexander Technique, RSI awareness, promoting good vocal health, and providing support for those looking to progress into competitive creative arts industries.

Financial assistance for fees is available through bursaries to ensure that cost is not a barrier to any young person to taking part in our activities.
