Adopted by Margaret Metcalf In Memory of John
What was your earliest musical memory?
Studying post-graduate violin...I have a very bad memory. My mother tells me a string quartet came to play at my school when I was 5 and I went home and asked for violin lessons.
What is the best thing about being a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra?
Getting to play alongside such lovely and talented people. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the friendliest orchestras I have ever played with. I also love performing for the audience - hearing their appreciation at the end of a performance is so rewarding and not many other jobs have that type of satisfaction.
What is your most memorable moment with the Orchestra so far?
Going on tour to China in October 2010, and tobogganing down the Great Wall!
What is on your CD/MP3/Spotify playlist right now?
I really don't listen to music for pleasure! I own about 600 CDs but I don't listen to any of them unless I have a performance - to me music is work, and to relax I'd rather watch Neighbours or comedy or play some sport.
