RLPO in Preston - Concert Trip

Join us for the opening of the Preston Concert Season with a special all-inclusive concert and coach trip package and an all-Dvorák programme conducted by Libor Pešek KBE.
The concert is a one-off special with baritone Ján Galla as the programme will not be repeated in its entirety at Philharmonic Hall. Prague Autumn Festival with the Phil

Flying direct from Manchester with Czech Airlines with a choice of a 3* or 4* Hotel, both located in the heart of the city, this tour is ideal for anyone visiting Prague for the first time or looking to explore the city at a leisurely pace. The Phil in Prague and a tour to Moravia, the Tatra Mountains of Slovakia and Bratislava

Milena Grenfell-Baines has taken the Friends of the Phil to the Czech lands for more than 20 years and her annual ‘adventures’ are always fully subscribed. This holiday is ideal for anyone who is familiar with Prague but wants the opportunity to visit more of the country and the beautiful scenic area of Northern Slovakia. The tour starts in Prague with two nights at the 4* K & K Central Hotel and the two RLPO concerts before heading off for a night in the historic town of Znojmo and an evening of food and wine in Mr Madl’s cellars! The holiday continues with 5 nights of relaxation and sightseeing in the High Tatra Mountains (almost at the Polish border). The 3* Hotel Hutnik features indoor swimming-pool, sauna, watercure facilities – classic and water massages (hydromassages), solarium, fitness centre and gymnasium. Classic fm Live at the Royal Albert Hall

Vasily Petrenko conducts another super programme of music at the helm of the RLPO, presented by Classic FM, at the Royal Albert Hall. The full programme will be available on the Maestro Travel website from 1st July but is expected to include works by Bernstein, Smetana, Sibelius, Piazolla and Tchaikovsky, and will feature tenor Alfie Boe and trumpet star Alison Balsom. The two night holiday includes executive coach travel from the Northwest (various pickup points – see website or booking form), ‘business class’ cold lunch tray on the way to London with wine and two nights at the 4* Copthorne Tara Hotel situated in fashionable South Kensington. Your stay includes buffet breakfast, raised stalls seating for the Classic FM live concert on the 25th and the option of a West End or classical performance (at additional cost) on the 24th.

Vasily conducts the Budapest Festival Orchestra

This tour includes three nights in Budapest, flying direct from Liverpool and staying at the 4* Novotel Centrum. The holiday includes a walking orientation of the area around the hotel, Liszt Square and Andrassy Avenue, two half-day sightseeing tours (by coach with some walking); a piano recital at the recently opened Palace of the Arts National Concert Hall given by renowned Hungarian pianist Gergely Boganyi and, the highlight of the visit, a performance of the Budapest Festival Orchestra, conducted by Vasily Petrenko at the magnificent Liszt Academy. The programme includes the Beethoven Violin Concerto with soloist Janine Jansen and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5. Tour leader for this holiday will be musicologist Brendan Carroll.

The Phil will play four concerts in Holland and Germany at the end of October with the final concert in Hamburg on 1st November. Flying out direct from Manchester to Hamburg and staying three nights at the centrally located 4* Novotel Alster, the holiday includes a welcome dinner, two half day tours of this historic Hanseatic city (one by coach and one walking), the option (at additional cost) of a performance of Donizetti’s great comic opera ‘The Elixir of Love’ at the Hamburg State Opera, and the RLPO concert at the historic Musikhalle with Maestro Petrenko conducting a programme including the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with Hilary Hahn. Vasily conducts the National Orchestra of Spain in Madrid

Flying direct from Liverpool this holiday includes four nights in Madrid, staying at the wonderfully located 4* Hotel Liabeny, situated in the heart of city just off the Puerto del Sol and a few minutes walk from the Christmas Market of Plaza Mayor. The holiday will also include a full programme of sightseeing and a visit to the Prado. The musical highlight of the weekend will be a performance by the renowned Orquesta Nacionales de Espana conducted by Maestro Petrenko with the Basque soprano Ainhoa Arteta in a programme that includes works by Dukas, Rodrigo and Prokofiev (Romeo and Juliet suite). The tour will be escorted throughout by Ken Grundy.

If you fancy doing your last minute Christmas shopping in Germany whilst visiting one of their excellent traditional Christmas markets and enjoying a super programme of music with the South West German Radio Orchestra conducted by Maestro Petrenko, why not join us for three nights in the vibrant south German city of Stuttgart? Apart from the concert on Saturday evening the programme includes a welcome dinner, sightseeing around this interesting city and a visit to the Mercedes Benz Museum!
