Martin Richardson is Principal First Violin number five at the Phil and joined the Orchestra in December 2000.  

 

 

Q. How long have you been with the RLPO?
A. Ten years (Martin rejoined the Orchestra in 2000 after a short break)

Q. What was your earliest musical experience?
A. Playing recorder hopelessly at Primary School

Q. Do you play any other instruments?
A. No

Q. If you could play a different instrument, which one would it be?
A. Bass Guitar

Q. What would you most like to do if you weren’t a musician?
A. Antique clock restoration (Father's business) / House husband

Q. If you could take a recording of one piece of music to a desert island, what would it be?
A. Pink Floyd - Wish you were here

Q. Which piece of music do you most enjoy playing?
A. Rachmaninov Symphony No.2

Q. Which personality (historical, musical or otherwise – living or dead!) would you most like to share a bottle of wine with?
A. My wife (she's alive!)

Q. Where’s your favourite place to eat/drink in Liverpool?
A. Home!

Q. What do you do to relax in your free time?
A. Running/ football/ cricket
