Jonathan Barrett

Jonathan Barrett is the RLPO's Horn Section Leader.  He joined the Orchestra in 1992.

 



Q. How long have you been with the RLPO?
A. 14 years

Q. What was your earliest musical experience?
A. Being a Chorister at Worcester College, Oxford

Q. Do you play any other instruments?
A. Natural Horn, Wagner Tuba, bit of piano

Q. If you could play a different instrument, which one would it be?
A. I have a thing about the Piano Accordion...

Q. What would you most like to do if you weren’t a musician?
A. If I was 15 years younger, a professional cyclist!

Q. If you could take a recording of one piece of music to a desert island, what would it be?
A. Copland Symphony No.3

Q. Which piece of music do you most enjoy playing?
A. Anything Jazzy!

Q. Which personality (historical, musical or otherwise – living or dead!) would you most like to share a bottle of wine with?
A. Stephen Fry

Q. Where’s your favourite place to eat/drink in Liverpool?
A. Carol's Cafe Bar - backstage at the Phil!

Q. What do you do to relax in your free time?
A. Get on my bike and cycle southwards!

Q. Where’s your favourite holiday destination?
A. I've never been there, but if I had, then British Columbia (I'm not widely travelled, you see).
