Jim Hutton - Violin

Jim Hutton is a second violin section player with the Phil, joining the Orchestra in January 1981.  Having played with the RLPO for over 25 years, Jim is an Honorary Life Member of the Society.

A. 25 years, 26 in January 2007

Q. What was your earliest musical experience?
A. Listening to a record and being given a violin by my uncle

Q. Do you play any other instruments?
A. Viola

Q. If you could play a different instrument, which one would it be?
A. Celtic Harp

Q. What would you most like to do if you weren’t a musician?
A. A game angling instructor and guide

Q. If you could take a recording of one piece of music to a desert island, what would it be?
A. Bach Brandenburg Concerto No.6

Q. Which piece of music do you most enjoy playing?
A. Anything by Bach or Handel

Q. Which personality (historical, musical or otherwise – living or dead!) would you most like to share a bottle of wine with?
A. My wife and my 2 daughters

Q. Where’s your favourite place to eat/drink in Liverpool?
A. Casa Italia

Q. What do you do to relax in your free time?
A. Shop, try to get out to the countryside
