Gethyn Jones - Cello

Gethyn Jones joined the RLPO in 1984 and plays Cello in the Orchestra.

Q. How long have you been with the RLPO?
A. Since 1984

Q. What was your earliest musical experience?
A. My father singing Welsh Folk Songs at home

Q. Do you play any other instruments?
A. Piano - badly!

Q. If you could play a different instrument, which one would it be?
A. Drums

Q. What would you most like to do if you weren’t a musician?
A. Having been overlooked as scrum half for Wales, perhaps running a cafe in the South of France

Q. If you could take a recording of one piece of music to a desert island, what would it be?
A. Bach Cello Suites

Q. Which piece of music do you most enjoy playing?
A. Elgar Symphony No.1

A. Fly in the Loaf or Philharmonic Pub

A. Spend as much time as possible with my two sons
