Rachel on From Russia With Love
I have just returned home from the From Russia With Love concert, and I have rarely been so ecstatic during, or following a performance. Thank you so much - I really can't describe how affecting I found the entire programme. Even Kirill Gerstein's wonderfully unexpected Erlkonig encore was a real treat! And, I was so lost in thoughts of those gorgeous basses in the 6th Symphony, that I left my gloves on the train coming home! A fair price for such pleasure - thank you again.

Paul on Opening Flourish
The orchestra were on top form and clearly enjoying working with Vasily Petrenko. Full marks to him for keeping the strings tight during the Rachmaniov, and what stamina he has! Where did he learn to dance, by the way? I hope the Second Life audience didn't miss out on his interpretations of A Rhyme for the Season.

The programme was very interesting. I know many patrons would have preferred an evening of safe warhorses, but I think the programme chosen was courageous and exciting: a strong statement of intent at the beginning of this season. "Look out world, we're back!"  I took my parents, both touching 70 and wary of contemporary music. Whist my Dad shared my love of the McCabe piece, the Hesketh had my Mum buzzing like a child after too many M&Ms.

Nicola on Hope Street Festival
I was lucky enough to introduce my 7 and 4 year old to the Grieg and Mendelssohn taster during the Hope Street Festival on Sunday. They sat transfixed listening to their first live classical music. This has now inspired me to attend the full Grieg programme next Sunday and consider booking one of the children’s’ concerts. Well done!

Antonia on Cellos of the RLPO with Martin Smith
I took my mother to the recent lunchtime cello concert and we were both bowled over – it was marvellous. It was fantastic to see so any cellos playing together and creating such a variety of music. The trumpet was also a treat. Is there any chance that this concert could be repeated another lunchtime as I would love my cello-playing daughter to see it; in fact I’d bring the whole family and friends too?

Stephanie on Preston Series
I won a couple of free tickets with Classic FM and attended a concert in Preston. I had forgotten how good it is to hear music live. I then went to the Elgar night which was wonderful.  I have now heard two Liverpool Phil concerts and enjoyed them so much that I intend getting season tickets.

Liz on Cellos of the RLPO with Martin Smith
The massed cello concert was one of the best concerts I have been to. The programme was fantastically varied and the performances were spellbinding. Top marks to them all. If it could be done again I would be there...it would be great to let the workers who can't get there in day time see it.

Derek & Barbara on White Nights
"The orchestra played out of their skins and Mr P. is pretty good too! A better signing than most footballers."

Norman on Spanish Night
"My wife and I, thought the Spanish Night was one of the best, if not THE best, concerts that we have had the pleasure of attending at the Phil. We now have concerts booked through Feb, March, April and May and if they give us as much pleasure as the Spanish Night, we shall be well pleased."

Sheila on Spanish Night
"Thoroughly enjoyed this, especially the little witty chats in between for those of us who enjoy music but have no knowledge. What an amiable friendly conductor! Can we have him back for a whole season? Hope the French night is as good."

Viv on Spanish Night
"I did indeed enjoy the Spanish night last Saturday. I sat in the choir right in the middle. That was the nearest I have ever come to being in an orchestra! To be able to see (and hear) Graham Johns play the snare the whole way through Ravel's Bolero was absolutely thrilling. Ian Wright is a wonderful player too - I'd adopt him if I could afford him. I am just in the process of adopting a young violist instead."

Graham on The Capitol Years
"The concert last Saturday was one of those nights you wish would never end! As a septuagenarian the Capital Records era was mine also in musical terms - John Wlison's conducting was inspirational for all those in the hall that evening. A magical evening -- my wife and I look forward to yet another at the Spanish Night in the New Year."

Anthony on Vasily Petrenko
"To my untutored self, but long-standing RLPO concert-goer, our new
conductor is a delight. I have never enjoyed a conductor so much - and therefore his concerts."

Stuart on Opening Celebration
"Vasily Petrenko's performance at the first concert was brilliant, matchless, phenomenal and whole heartedly enjoyed by everyone. The orchestra's response was a joy to experience with a clear relationship of mutual respect showing. This is so vital and long may it continue!! We have never enjoyed a better concert at the Phil and we will be back tonight and many more times in the coming months."

Peter on Opening Celebration
"Last Thursday's concert was truly memorable. We are indeed fortunate to have Vasily Petrenko with us at the Phil and my wife and I are looking forward to an exciting season of concerts."

Other music events:

Anon on James Bond night

"Six of us came on Saturday night - what a fantastic show! I'm back on 31 May to watch Gary Moore - can't wait to see him, at the best venue around bar none!"

General comments:

Pat on the RLPO
"What a joy it is to sit in the concert hall and feel the infectious passion of Vasily Petrenko flow through the audience and the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.  He is an inspiring conductor who brings out the very best in the talented musicians.  I just wish that my husband did not work so many rotating shifts and we could attend concerts more often.  The music  certainly transcends grey skies and rain sodden evenings."

Joe on the Phil's customer service
"I would like to thank you for making my girlfriend and I feel really welcome with all your communications. I think the £5 student offer is fantastic, and will be taking advantage of it regularly during my time at university.

We really enjoyed the show, and I think you are doing a really good job promoting an excellent venue. Keep up the good work!"
