Schools' Concerts
The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic offers a series of Schools’ Concerts annually with a free Scheme of Work aimed at Key Stage 2 pupils. Each year these concerts reach an audience of over 13,000 children. These concerts are a fun and lively way to introduce orchestral music, whilst at the same time delivering the requirements of the National Curriculum for Music at Key Stage 2.
Schools receive a free scheme of work and CD designed to be used during the spring term prior to attending a concert which is a culmination of the work covered during the term. The scheme and concert also stand alone as an excellent teaching resource and superb introduction to the orchestra.
This programme is a great opportunity for children to experience the excitement of a live orchestral performance and the free scheme of work is a valuable support for specialists and non-specialist music teachers alike. INSET sessions take place in January to assist teachers in following the scheme.
With Liverpool in the spotlight as European Capital of Culture, our 2008 schools’ concerts will be taking a look at some of our European neighbours and making a cultured connection through cooking, putting Music on the Menu.
Tickets for the 08/09 Schools' Concerts go on sale in September 2008
