Education / Participation at the Phil

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic has been working with schools and the community through its orchestral programme since the 1940s, when Sir Malcolm Sargent first introduced a concert series for schools. Since then, the programme has developed to incorporate a range of education and outreach projects and events, offering opportunities to appreciate, and participate in, live music-making of the highest quality.

Our Education & Participation programme has been widely acclaimed locally, regionally, and nationally. Our family concerts received recognition in The Observer's Arts Review of the Year 2003, and were nominated by Julian Lloyd Webber in his Daily Telegraph column as No.1 in '21 reasons to be cheerful about classical music.’
