Cormac is Flute Section Leader with the RLPO and joined the Orchestra in 2002.




Q. How long have you been with the RLPO?
A. 4½ years (joined in March 2002)

Q. What was your earliest musical experience?
A. Probaby playing some awful recorder choir music in a beginners class!

Q. Do you play any other instruments?
A. Bit of guitar and a bit of singing!

Q. If you could play a different instrument, which one would it be?
A. Celeste

Q. What would you most like to do if you weren’t a musician?
A. If I had the talent, either a rugby player or golfer

Q. If you could take a recording of one piece of music to a desert island, what would it be?
A. Anything with a Big Band

Q. Which piece of music do you most enjoy playing?
A. In the Orchestra, you just can't beat the ending of Mahler 2nd Symphony on the flute, a solo funk piece called "Zoom Tube" by Ian Clarke 

Q. Which personality (historical, musical or otherwise – living or dead!) would you most like to share a bottle of wine with?
A. Peter Clohessy A.K.A 'The Claw' - monster rugby legend!

Q. Where’s your favourite place to eat/drink in Liverpool?
A. The Ship & Mitre - great selection of fantastic beers

Q. What do you do to relax in your free time?
A. Play as much golf as I can, watch as much rugby as I can

Q. Where’s your favourite holiday destination?
A. Nowhere exotic, just a little peninsula called the Maharees in County Kerry
