Arts Council England National Portfolio Grant Settlement 2012-2015

Arts Council England has announced its National Portfolio grant settlements for 2012 – 2015. Royal Liverpool Philharmonic will receive:

  • 2012/13 - £2,071,667

  • 2013/14 - £2,121,987

  • 2014/15 - £2,172,301

This equates to a net cut in 2012-13 compared to our 2010-11 grant of 6.9%, reducing by 2015 to 2.3%, excluding inflation. In real terms this equates to a 11% cut.

In March, Liverpool City Council announced a 20% cut in revenue grant, which was followed by cuts from other Merseyside authorities.

Chief Executive, Michael Eakin said:

“No cut in revenue is good news for any organisation. However, we are grateful to Arts Council England (ACE) for their considerable support and recognition of Liverpool Philharmonic as an outstanding and important organisation locally and nationally. We believe we have demonstrated that the significant investment that (ACE) has made in this organisation over the last 10 years through revenue and stabilisation grants has been justified. We are currently enjoying a period of artistic achievement that we haven’t matched for at least a quarter of a century. Our learning programme goes from strength to strength, in particular In Harmony Liverpool which is proving to be a truly transformative project, and we have been able to strengthen public and private sector partnerships that are delivering proven cultural, social and economic benefits at local and national level.”
