Summer at St George's Hall Concert Room

Liverpool Philharmonic’s Chamber Music series features performances by some of the world’s finest string quartets, vocalists and recital artists. Concerts take place in the splendid setting of St. George’s Hall Concert Room, where in 2014 you can also enjoy the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in a new series of summertime concerts.

Considered by many to be the most beautiful room in the building, the Concert Room is a 480- seat venue features elegant decoration in white, honey, and cream and a cast iron ‘wickerwork’ balcony supported by female figures. A superb crystal chandelier hangs in the middle of the room while Ravenhead glass mirrors situated at the back of the stage create stunning reflections.

Summer 2014 at St George's

Join the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in a new series of summertime concerts in the grand setting of St George’s Hall Concert Room.

The series includes concerts by the orchestra as well as performances by pianist Simon Trpčeski, in solo recital, and also with James Clark, violin and Jonathan Aasgaard, cello. Trpčeski returns to Liverpool Philharmonic as an Artist in Residence following his last performance in 2012 with Vasily Petrenko which prompted the Guardian to refer to them as ‘one of the hottest pianist-conductor partnerships on the scene’.

There can be few operas which better suit the magnificent setting of the Concert Room than Mozart’s third and final opera with a libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, Così fan tutte. This new production with staging by Bernard Rozet and costumes by one of Europe’s most eminent design schools uses the Concert Room’s opulent setting to full effect.

The summer events also include Cathedral Classics in the magnificent setting of Liverpool Cathedral.
