Bluegrass Night
Thursday 2 September 2010 7:30 pm
Liverpool Philharmonic Hall
With The Claire Lynch Band and Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band
Tickets £16, £21
Join us for an evening of foot-tappin' high lonesome sounds by two of the finest bluegrass bands from the US.
Grammy-award winning Peter Rowan spent his early years playing under the tutelage of bluegrass patriarch Bill Monroe, and following his stint in Old & In the Way with Jerry Garcia, the bandleader has built a devoted international following.
The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band consists of dyed-in-the-wool traditional players with over 100 years of combined live gigging experience. Joining guitarist Peter Rowan are Jody Stecher, mandolin; Keith Little, banjo; and Paul Knight, bass.
Claire Lynch's voice has been compared to Nanci Griffith and Alison Krauss. Her first success came with the Front Porch String Band. She has been nominated for several Grammy’s for her solo work and sung on albums by Ralph Stanley, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Patty Loveless, Dolly Parton, John Starling, and Pam Tillis.
By any measure, The Claire Lynch Band is high on the bluegrass world's A-List, with musicians whose accolades include International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Female Vocalist of the Year and two Grammy nominations for Best Bluegrass Album.
'One of Nashville's most quietly important performers...gentle, nearly evangelical fervour' The Daily News (LA) on Claire Lynch.
