About the Rodewald Concert Society
Formed in 1911 in memory of Alfred E. Rodewald, the celebrated Liverpool-based benefactor and conductor, the Rodewald Concert Society has been responsible for bringing some of the world’s finest chamber musicians to Liverpool.
Re-formed in 1998, the RCS now promotes an annual series of chamber concerts in partnership with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.
Alfred E Rodewald Commemorative Plaque Unveiled
On 15 November 2008 John McCabe, Honorary President of the Rodewald Concert Society, unveiled a blue plaque at 66 Huskisson St, birthplace of Alfred E Rodewald.
This was followed by commemorative celebrations in the Rodewald Suite, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, including a talk by John Kelly of the Elgar Society entitled 'Rodewald and Elgar', and a performance of movements from Elgar's Piano Quintet by John McCabe and friends.
